Indiana lawmaker wants budget cuts made public
State's budget director defends administration's efforts to control spending

Accusing the state government of fostering a "culture of secrecy," Senate Minority Leader Vi Simpson on Tuesday called on the Daniels administration to make public what state programs are being cut to make ends meet.

Simpson, D-Ellettsville, said she first sought the information earlier this year but was told by State Budget Director Chris Ruhl that the state has no such list and would not compile one.  Read more.
