The Union League Club of Chicago, in partnership with Truth in Accounting, presented a debate about the proposed Constitutional amendment to establish a graduated income tax system for Illinois.
In advance of the November 2020 ballot question facing Illinois citizens, Lunch@65West invites you to join us for a lively debate exploring both sides of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s proposal to amend the Illinois State Constitution to replace the current flat tax with a graduated state income tax.
Ralph Martire (Pro) is Executive Director of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability (CTBA), Arthur Rubloff Endowed Professor of Public Policy at Roosevelt University, and a member of Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Budget & Innovation Committee. The CTBA is “committed to ensuring that state, federal and local workforce, education, fiscal, economic, and budget policies are fair and just."
Dan Proft (Con) is a radio talk show host on AM 560, former candidate for the Republican nomination for Governor, and co-founder of the Illinois Opportunity Project, which “seeks to promote the social good and common welfare by educating the public about public policy that is driven by the principles of liberty and free enterprise.”
