108 years ago, on February 14, 1912, Arizona was admitted to the union.

On February 14, 2020, Arizona will celebrate 108 years as the 48th state admitted to the union. To celebrate, we used Data-Z to find fun facts about Arizona and to learn more about the Grand Canyon State.

In 2017, the Grand Canyon State spent $280 million on parks and recreation. This is divided between the 31 state parks.

The state also spent $2.2 billion on its 919 miles of highways that same year.
Fifty percent of the population is female, but in Maricopa County, no more than six girls may live in the same house.

In Arizona, the median value for a home is $241,100 which is $32,000 lower than the 50-state average.

Arizona spent $280 million on police protection expenditures in 2017.

In 2018, the poverty rate in AZ was 11 percent higher than the national average. Arizona has 13.8 percent more children in poverty than the 50-state average.

While Arizona is the sixth largest state in landmass, it has the 14th largest population.
