Lawmakers ask IG Council: Are agency whistleblowers reluctant to come forward?

By Jory Heckman, includes “… We think whistleblowers are the lifeblood of IGs [and] of the work we do,” Michael Horowitz, the Justice Department’s inspector general, and chairman of the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE), told members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. … Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the ranking member of the committee, said Congress and agency inspectors general can’t fulfill their oversight role. … The ranking member said whistleblowers should serve as the eyes and ears of inspectors general.”
