Lightfoot’s mandate to fight corruption at City Hall

For the moment, Lori Lightfoot owns Chicago. But can she save it? The diminutive underdog outsider turned mayor-elect of the nation's third largest city pulled off a stunning election-day blowout of Cook County political boss and County Board Chairman Toni Preckwinkle. A virtual political unknown barely a year ago, Lightfoot won nearly three of every four votes counted Tuesday and swept all 50 of the city's wards.
