New rule could open window on corporate tax breaks

Illinois is not alone in offering these deals to giant corporations, with totals of $1.6 billion in tax breaks the state has doled out as their part of the deal for big businesses to reside in Illinois…Over the past year, GASB has been weighing the decision of requiring states officials to reveal exactly how much of a tax break they are giving, and to whom, in their financial reports."
