Striving for seamlessness in an unseemly world

March 15, 2017

Tomorrow, I'm attending a cool-looking conference in DC, titled the Financial Data Summit 2017.  The conference is organized under the umbrella of a group called the Data Coalition.  The group's stated goals look to include a fundamental transformation in the aggregation and delivery of government financial data, with a view to improving the transparency, comparability, and timeliness of a wide variety of financial data.

We've done a fair amount of related work, in our own way, at Truth in Accounting.  But much/most of that has been by hand, the old-fashioned way, drawing on fundamental reporting documents that vary widely across different jurisdictions.  We are very respectful of the challenges facing anyone working to promote 'standardization' and 'seamlessness' in this area.

A list of the speakers tomorrow, and their topics, is at the lower part of that webpage.  I'll be sharing a fair amount of their insights and ideas sparked by their presentations here soon.
