Citigroup Settlement Just a Tiny, Tiny Slice of the Illinois Pension Debt Pie

By Bill Bergman, Truth in Accounting, includes “There are two reasons you can just barely see the $44 million black slice.  First, you shouldn’t even see it at all – when you use $44 million in the software, it doesn’t even show up in the chart.  We had to fake it with a much bigger number to get it to show up.  That’s because of the second reason — $44 million is a very, very small amount of money compared to the $100.5 billion the state needs to fund its unfunded retirement pension obligations.”
