Truth, objectivity, and subjectivity in accounting

Doctoral thesis by John Francis McKernan, from 2001, includes “This thesis is motivated by the conviction that accounting has emancipatory potential. … The essential thesis that we will explicate and defend here is that we can have truth and objectivity in accounting. We recognize that this potential is presently frustrated by the distortions of capitalist modernity but argue that those distortions can be overcome. …”
