Illinoisans think roads are in fair or bad shape, but don’t want to pay more to fix them: poll

But when asked if they would pay more taxes or fees to improve the transportation system, 74 percent of Illinois residents said no. The same percentage does not think existing funding is being used appropriately. This does not bode well for proponents of raising the gas tax, which has not gone up since 1990.
