IFTA TO HOST MEDICARE’S FINANCIAL CRISIS SEMINAR
The Institute for Truth in Accounting, with the assistance of Tom Prince, Professor of Health Industry  Management at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, has organized a seminar to bring together professionals to discuss the true cost of the Medicare program. A focus of the seminar is to determine how adequate funds can be provided to healthcare providers in the future. The speakers are an impressive array of nationally known experts in the healthcare field. The speakers include: Sheila Weinberg CEO of Institute for Truth in Accounting, along with board member Tom Price, as well as Lois Quam, CEO of Ovations within UnitedHealth Group; Jon Kaplan of Accenture; Julia Portale of Pfizer, Jon R. Comola of  Wye River Group on Healthcare; authors Dr. John E. Croghan and Jonathan D. Weatherly; and Terry Mieling of Merrill Lynch.

This lecture and discussion will take place at the Chicago Club on Thursday, April 27, starting at 1:00pm- 5:00pm, and will continue into Friday, April 28, from 9:00am- 5:00pm. The April 27th reception is a great opportunity to network with important healthcare professionals of similar minds. We anticipate a record turnout and seating is limited.

Truth In Accounting Act announced
On April 6th, Congressman Chocola (R-IN), along with Congressman Jim Cooper (D-TN) and Congressman Mark Kirk (R-IL) introduced the "Truth in Accounting Act of 2006". This act would require the federal government to accurately report the nation’s unfunded long-term liabilities, including Social Security and Medicare, a debt that amounts to $43 trillion dollars, during the next 75 years, Chocola says, according to wndu.com. This legislation was named after The Institute for Truth in Accounting, and will allow the Federal Government to report Truth in their accounting practices. More information regarding this act can be found here.
